Layer5 Blowhorn ยท for macOS

One message. Many ears.

Blowhorn is a social media console that takes one message and broadcasts, reposts and amplifies it across every profile and platform your community runs, on autopilot.

macOS 13 or newer Google Chrome for LinkedIn, X, Reddit and Hacker News

One message fanning out to seven platforms
One message fans out into seven speech bubbles, one for each platform: LinkedIn, X, Reddit, Slack, Bluesky, Hacker News and GitHub.

Platforms

Say it once. Everywhere.

7 platforms, 1 queue. Each profile keeps its own timing and outreach, and one approved row goes out to every platform it names.

  • LinkedIn Chrome extension
  • X Chrome extension
  • Reddit Chrome extension
  • Hacker News Chrome extension. Submit and comment, never a vote
  • Slack API
  • Bluesky API
  • GitHub API

Blowhorn also writes long-form blog posts: a Layer5 or Meshery row becomes a post in the matching site repository. Platform marks are Blowhorn's own drawings, not the platforms' logos.

How you run it

Amplify on autopilot.

3 ways in, 1 engine. Every command has a read-only or dry-run form, so you rehearse a run before anything is published.

  • Menu-bar app

The popover shows what is due, running and about to post. The console covers jobs, content, runs, profiles, analytics, the service and settings.

  • CLI

The engine behind everything. Each command carries its own help and a worked example, with the preview form first.

    blowhorn post --profile all --dry-run
  • Background service

A launchd service checks the queue every 10 minutes and runs what is due, with the app closed and nobody watching.

  • Chrome extension

LinkedIn, X, Reddit and Hacker News actions run inside your own signed-in Chrome through the Blowhorn extension. GitHub, Bluesky and Slack go through their APIs.

Major Blowhorn, a teal rooster in a drill sergeant's campaign hat, standing at attention

Broadcast authorized.

Major Blowhorn

Major Blowhorn runs the queue like a drill sergeant. Every approved post is an order, every platform is his platoon, and he barks it out on all of them at once. He barks at the message, never at you.

Trust

Yours to keep.

Blowhorn runs as many public voices as you need without handing the keys to anyone else.

  • Your sign-ins stay on your Mac

Browser sessions never leave your machine. LinkedIn, X, Reddit and Hacker News actions run in your own signed-in Chrome through the Blowhorn extension.

  • Your organization's store, on Layer5 Cloud

The queue, schedule, profiles, run ledger and platform tokens live in a database scoped to your organization on Layer5 Cloud. Every row carries your organization's id.

  • Hacker News: submit and comment only

Blowhorn submits stories and posts comments on Hacker News. It never votes.
